Microsoft + Common = SOFTWEAR

Microsoft has teamed up with hip-hop legend, Common, on a line of clothes called Softwear. It launch in Cali earlier this month. No word on where to buy or what retail prices will be. (Got this from raysbleujuice, thanks Ray)

First and foremost, WOW! I love all of these artist and they were in concert together, lets hope they tour. Q-tip is pretty much as close as you're gonna get to OG hip-hop these days, he's a classic. Janelle Monae is a newly signed artist to Bad Boy records, I consider her to be a female Andre 3000, but this girl has vocals for days, she can SANG! The Cool Kids are kinda new to the hip-hop scene, but they have an old school vibe that just rocks (I featured them on my blog before). Check the vid from studio43:

Original Fake is putting in work. Kaws, innovative genius behind original fake, has teamed up and dropped a line of shoe wear and they're truly eye catching (if I do say so myself). They are like hospital socks meets bed slipper meets sneaker. Here's what Commonwealth has to say:

Artist Spotlight: The Cool Kids

You can't really consider yourself to be a modern day hip-hop head if you don't know The Cool Kids. These midwest natives who met on myspace have been in commercials, opens concerts, and most recently have been touring with Ryan Leslie, Tyga, and Shwayze as headliners on The New Skool Music Concert. They have a new single, "Delivery Man" which can be downloaded off http://greenlabelsound.com

Had the pleasure of hearing them live and it rocked. They have another cd coming out and they played some tracks off it. It will be dope.

Tech: Giorgio Armani x Samsung

The Samsung P520 Armani phone has been officially unveiled during the Giorgio Armani fashion show. The Samsung SGH-P520 is a sexy looking device and of which gets rid of that boring old conventional keypad. The Samsung P520 Georgio Armani is a credit-card-sized touchscreen handset with a 3 megapixel camera.

It has a full touch activated interface and a QVGA touch-sensitive display in 320 x 240 pixels, capable of showing 262K colours. Samsungs P520 uses a microSD memory card slot on top of the 50 MB of internal memory.

Battery life is good for such a slim handset (only 8.9mm thick) with 6 hours of talk time. Bluetooth connectivity is provided along with the A2DP stereo option and


The phone comes with J2ME™ games already embedded and it is possible for the user to download many games from the Internet. The user can stay in contact with friends, family and business colleagues by creating either a SMS text message, email or MMS multimedia message. The MMS message allows the user to share photos and video with other MMS contacts.

Ellen DeGeneres Goes Glam

If you don't know by now, Ellen DeGeneres, lesbian comedian/actress/talk-show host, will be making an extra 6, count 'em, 6 figures by becoming the newest face of Cover Girl. I guess they were tired off making Beyonce look caucasian, so they actually found a real caucasian. Ironically, Beyonce and Ellen are close friends, so it comes to NO surprise to me.

This new album seems just as promising with the leaked single "Swagger Like Us" buzzin' around the air waves. That song features some heavyweights such as Kanye West, Lil Wayne, and Jay-Z. Bad Boy Update: Shia LaBeouf

In recent news, movie star, Shia LaBeouf has been platered on every channel for his horrific car accident involving him and a female passenger, co-star of his up-and-coming sequel to Transformers. Luckily, everyone made it out of the wreck alive which seemed like a miracle since LaBeouf's SUV was found flipped on its roof like Tonka truck. Shia admits to having one too many drinks, but his bad boy behavior does not end there. Check out this interview:

Go Go Gadget Pen

A new writing gadget called the Pulse Pen is likely to change the way you take notes. The cigar shaped object allows users to coordinate recorded audio and handwritten notes by using specialized paper. The genius of this product lies in its ability to allow the user to later pull up a digital image of the notes on a computer and point to a place on that image to hear the audio recorded at the time the original note was taken. Users can also use the notepad to hear the audio play back through a speaker built into the pen.

3G iPhone, Eat Your Heart Out

Samsung has developed and released the first 3G phone to be available called the Instinct. It is exclusive to Sprint network and have plenty to offer. With the 3G iPhone failing to appease techies, you can expect to see more Instincts in the hands of the average consumer. Here is a review:

Nas is back with another classic and controversial album. His single "Hero" featuring Keri Hilton was been blazing the air waves for a couple of months and it finally releases tomorrow, July 15, 2008. I've been highly anticipating another album from Nasir Jones and after listening to it, I'm proud to say he's done it again. There are fifteen tracks, one of which include Chris Brown. Hip-hop is still alive, don't give into the hype people.

Dolce and Gabbana Spring/Summer 2009

These photos are from backstage of the spring/summer collection of Dolce and Gabbana while it was being revealed. It features many silk prints, croc. The collection as a whole embodies the elegance of 1940s/1950s. Very tailored, sauve, asian inspired, boxer-chic (literally). Much of the outfits are like what boxers would wear, but very fashionable. Lots of warm neutral colors like beige, sage, periwinkle...many of the colors that see in spring and summer, but not bold and bright. Perfect for summer.

THERE BACKKKK! This October, the Jordan Collezione Pack IX (containing the IIIs/XXs). The IIIs to be released are the black cements (as pictured). The XXs are black on black with dark charcoal. I am very much anticipating this release.

If you ask any true hip-hop head about the relationship between the genre and fashion, you'll find that they go hand-and-hand. Slick Rick and Ghostface a.k.a. Pretty Tony had pounds of dookey rope necklaces, Run DMC with the Adidas and track suits, the list can go "on and on"...in the present day hip-hop era, fashion and trends seem to be more or less evolving to a new standard or plateau. Know we have K. West who is always decked out in Prada, Ralph Lauren, and his infamous favorite Louis Vuitton. So infamous that he's known as the Louis Vuitton Don. Jay-Z is notorius for his fetish for Asian labels such as True Religion and Evisu. High fashion is at the epicenter of most major hip-hop. When??? WHY??? In an interview with Pharrell of N.E.R.D. by men.style.com he claims he wears what he once coudn't afford and always dreamed of having. "Hermes made a tote, kind of a weekend bag especially for me. Purple croc with gold accessories" Skateboard P explained. (as pictured). He also explained he would be getting other custom made goodies from Hermes. On a sidebar, he still is under contract with Louis Vuitton as a model. Will hip-hop and high fashion remain synonymous? It will be interesting what's in store for the future.

Straight from the 310 (Malibu/L.A. area of Cali), a trip-hop group called Shwayze has emerged bringing a much needed swag to the hip-hop/rock underground (soon to be commercial) scene. They were apart of Warp Tour this year. There single "Buzzin'" featured in a Honda truck commercial (which I was how I heard of them)has a video. Check it out, pretty dope IMO

C.R.S. "Us Placers"

Current hip-hop's finest has chosen to grace the airwaves together creating a musical utopia. Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West, and Pharrell a.k.a. C.R.S. have a video for their single "Us Placers". This song forces you to think outside the box on current issues and events. I can't stop listening to it, this song just haunts my brain. Take a listen...

My New Years Resolution

MAKE BETTER DECISIONS...I'm done vowing to lose weight and be less selfish. It comes down to one thing, I HAVE to make better choices in life. If I choice to eat better, I'll lose weight.
